First Amendment? D'oh!

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

— The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

In a survey more people knew more characters in the Simpsons than they did freedoms protected by the First Amendment. If you can't remember what freedoms it protects then you won't know what you're missing if they take it away.

The First Amendment protects freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition.
